Bérengère Piret
Bérengère Piret is a professor at UCLouvain, where she teaches contemporary history and archival sciences. She is also a researcher at the State Archives. Her early research focused on incarceration in a colonial context ("Les cent mille briques. La prison et les détenus de Stanleyville, 2011). Since then, she has deepened her work in the field of colonial justice, with a doctoral thesis and numerous articles on judicial structures and activity in Burundi, Congo and Rwanda. At the same time, Bérengère Piret has taken a close interest in archives relating to colonization. She examines their production, their history and the challenges surrounding the sharing of this common heritage.
