Open Access Policy
The Journal of Belgian History provides immediate open access to all its content. This means that all articles, as well as other contributions (such as reviews, PhD sections, and position papers), are available for free consultation immediately after publication under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC) license.
The publisher (State Archives in Belgium) retains the copyright, and the authors have contractually agreed to publish their contributions in the Journal of Belgian History with open access. No financial contribution is required from authors to publish. Authors may enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal’s published version of their work (e.g., by posting it to an institutional repository or including it in a book), with acknowledgment of its original publication in this journal. Authors are also permitted to post their work online (for instance, in institutional repositories or on personal websites) after publication. Authors are explicitly encouraged to deposit their published article in their institutional repository.
