Joris Vandendriessche

Joris Vandendriessche is a tenure-track research professor (BOFZAP) at the Cultural History since 1750 Research Group of the Faculty of Arts at KU Leuven. His research focuses on the modern history of science and medicine, and health humanities. His expertise lies in particular in the historical analysis of scientific sociability, public health and health care in the 19th and 20th centuries. Joris is currently the Principal Investigator of the ERC-funded project GLOBAL ACADEMIES, which studies the function of scientific societies as gatekeepers in a globalizing world (1930-1990). He is also director of the Leuven Centre for Health Humanities, an interfaculty research centre within the Group Humanities and Social Sciences at KU Leuven.
