This first issue of 2016 is a thematic issue on marginality and subalternity in Belgian contemporary history. Guest editors Magaly Rodriguez and Amandine Lauro selected four articles that break with the classic categorisations of the traditional triangle ethnicity – class – gender. These articles  contribute to a new debate on exclusion/inclusion in Belgian society from a  historical perspective.
